Dear Sisters Hospital Friends & Donors, Each time I have the opportunity to speak to individuals about my work at Sisters Hospital, invariably the response is almost always the same. Specifically, almost everyone has their own “Sisters Hospital story.” It is often related to a birth! The arrival of a child, grandchild or maybe even their own birth and that of their siblings. I have met entire generations of families, all of whom were born at Sisters. Sometimes, it is a comment about a recent surgery or hospitalization at Sisters. Often, the remarks include the quality of care, the cleanliness of the hospital, the trust of their physicians, the helpfulness of the staff. Once in a while, the story may be about the passing of a loved one and an acknowledgement about how important a holistic, faith-based hospital was during the end of a family member’s life journey. Hospitals are often glamorized in television shows – daytime dramas, nighttime series, and more recently, a number of “reality shows” have focused on what happens at a hospital. What none of the television shows seem to capture is how very vulnerable most patients are when they are hospitalized. Outside of familiar surroundings, usually not able to get any “rest”, having a number of people in and out of their room, often to take blood, check a vital statistic, or ask about a medication - it is an overwhelming experience for most patients. I believe this is where Sisters Hospital is a different and unique healthcare institution in our community. The dedicated staff at Sisters, regardless of job title, seniority or department, go out of there way to help patients get well, to keep families informed and to support their fellow co-workers. As a donor to Sisters Hospital, your gift helps this collective group deliver quality care to all of our patients. On behalf of our patients, their families, and our dedicated staff, thank you. With gratitude, Julie R. Snyder |
